Journal Title: Abanico Veterinario - Year 2017, Vol 7, Issue 3
Abstract
In order to evaluate the response of Creole ewes from the Mountain of Guerrero state to a Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer (MOET) protocol, a study was carried out at the Colegio Superior Agropecuario del Estado de Guerrero (CSAEGRO), located in Cocula, Gro., at 18º 15’ 26’’ North Latitude. Six Creole ewes were utilized as donors and 18 Pelibuey sheep as recipients. Receivers had for 11 d an intravaginal device containing progesterone, plus an intramuscular injection of 200 IU of eCG when the device was removed. Donors received a superovulation protocol that consisted of the intramuscular administration of 200 mg of FHS-P in decreased doses that started 4 d before the device removal. Embryo collection was carried out 6 days after the last mating. Descriptive statistics were used. Superovulation rate, number of corpora lutea and of transferable embryos collected from donor ewes were 50 %, 4.3 ± 5.2, 2.2 ± 2.5, respectively, whereas that the fertility rate registered in the recipient sheep was 50%: The response of donors to hormonal protocol evaluated for superovulation was low and variable, while in the recipient the fertility rate was moderated. Key words. Superovulation, transfer, embryos, Creole ewes.
