EVALUATING THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PARTICIPATIVE LEADERSHIP, JOB BURNOUT AND ORGANIZATIONAL CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIOR: A META-ANALYSIS

Abstract

Based on the social exchange theory, job demands-resources model and conservation of resources theory, relationships among participative leadership, job burnout and organizational citizenship behavior, that is gaining more and more importance recently, are revealed in this research. In order to accomplish this, meta-analysis method of research, which has an eye-catching place among research methods, is used. In this context, by the help of 103 studies included in the meta-analysis, negative and significant relationships between participative leadership and job burnout were indicated. Similarly, it was revealed that, there was a negative and significant relationship between job burnout and organizational citizenship behavior. Also, a positive and significant relationship between participative leadership and organizational citizenship behavior was revealed. Moreover, negative and significant relationships between the sub-dimensions of both job burnout and organizational citizenship behavior were witnessed.
