Evaluation of Adsorption Isotherms and Industrial Wastewater Treatment for COD Reduction Using Acid Impregnated Peanut Shell Activated Carbon
Journal Title: Asian Journal of Physical and Chemical Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 2, Issue 3
Abstract
Phosphoric acid impregnated activated carbon has been successfully prepared from readily available agro waste (peanut shell) and applied in the treatment of industrial wastewater for reduction of organic matter contributing to the chemical oxygen demand (COD). Functional groups identification and surface morphology characterization of the activated carbon have been performed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Effects of pH (2.1-10.2), initial concentration (50-320) mgL-1, contact time (10-70) min and adsorbent dose (0.1-0.7) g on the percentage reduction of the COD have been studied and evaluated. Four selected adsorption isotherm models have been tested and their linear regression correlation coefficient (R2) values were in the order of Langmuir>Freundlich>Temkin> Dubinin Radushkevich (0.9433>0.9383>0.8967>0.8415) respectively.

Equivalent Multiple Complex SUSY For Real SUSY
We notice real SUSY Hamiltonians have multiple equivalent complex Hamiltonians which may be (i) PT invariant (ii) T invariant or (iii) combination of both in nature . These three types of complex Hamiltonians give the sa...
Synthesis, Characterization and Thermoluminescence Properties of Rare Earth Ions Doped Silica Glass Prepared by Sol-Gel Technique
Aims: The main aim of this work is to synthesize the silica glass (SiO2-glass) samples doped with different rare earths (RE) and then to study the thermoluminescence (TL) glow curve of these samples. Study Design: Rare...
Spectral, Optical, Mechanical and Thermal Studies of a New NLO Material
A new NLO crystal, glycinium para-toluenesulfonate (GPTS) is synthesized. The FT-IR study substantiated the formation of anion and cation by proton shift from para-toluenesulfonic acid (PTSA) to glycine resulting in addu...
Analysis of Unsteady Hydromagnetic Natural Convective Dissipative Flow through an Inclined Plate
This study investigates the effects of viscous dissipation on an unsteady two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) natural convection through an inclined plate. The governing partial differential equations together wit...
Measurement of Type of Substance Based on Protons, Neutrons and Electrons in the Substance
Aims: The study aims to determine a method to identify and measure all substances. Study Design: Applying the new structural constant of atoms, s0 = 8.278 691 910, the possibility of introducing type of substance as a...
