EVALUATION OF CONSOLIDATION COEFFICIENT BASED ON UNIAXIAL STRAIN AND PORE PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION IN ROWE’S CONSOLIDOMETER IL TESTS

Abstract
The paper presents a new interpretation of laboratory tests for estimating the optimal value of consolidation coefficient cv. Two different relations between a non-dimensional time factor and a consolidation ratio were used in calculations derived form the analysis of uniaxial soil strain and pore pressure distribution. Based on the adopted criteria it was possible to evaluate a quasi-filtration phase of the process, cv optimal values and indicate correspondence between experimental and theoretical soil behaviour.
