EVALUATION OF FOREIGN INVESTMENT DEVELOPMENT OF THE UKRAINIAN ECONOMY

Abstract
Foreign investment is money, securities, property and property rights, results of intellectual activity, other values stipulated by current legislation, which are invested by foreign investors in objects of investment activity that are not prohibited by law in order to profit or achieve a social effect. In the conditions of integration processes in the modern world, the inflow of foreign investment becomes one of the main criteria for the status of the country, its success in entering the world economy. The socio-economic and political development of Ukraine at the present stage is aimed at forming a developed open market economy. The shortage of domestic sources of financing for the economy provokes the need for attracting foreign investment, which in turn is one of the most important means for achieving economic growth of the economy, technological re-equipment of production, development of export industries. Foreign investors consider it more attractive to invest in areas of high profitability, which provide a quick return on small deposits, infrastructure, etc. The attraction of foreign investment enables the recipient country to obtain a number of benefits, the main ones are: improving the balance of payments; transfer of the latest technologies and know-how; complex use of resources; development of export potential and reduction of dependence on imports; achievement of socio-economic effect (increase of employment level, development of social infrastructure, etc.). At the same time, the use of foreign investment for the country is a potential source of threats, such as exploitation of raw materials and pollution, increasing the country’s dependence on foreign capital, reducing the competitiveness of domestic commodity producers, and transferring capital abroad.
