Evaluation of Negative Statements, Actions and Their Reflections on Tourism in the Scope of Overtourism

Abstract
: The tourism sector is among the sectors most affected by social events. Overtourism is an event that occurs when the carrying capacity of touristic destinations is exceeded, and it affects the tourism industry from different perspectives. Excessive tourism is an important problem that is seen in touristic destinations and can cause the local people in these destinations to feel negative thoughts and feelings towards tourists. It is known that some touristic destinations around the world are exposed to excessive tourism and show various reactions to this situation. It is thought that excessive tourism affects the development process of touristic destinations badly, and this situation generally causes touristic destinations to create a negative impression about tourism. Both local people and tourists are not satisfied with excessive tourism. Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to make an evaluation on the negative expressions and actions towards tourists within the scope of excessive tourism and how these are reflected in the tourism phenomenon. The run is of review type. It is thought that the study will bring an important knowledge to the tourism literature.
