Evaluation of plain radiography and MRI in diagnosing pathology of hip joints
Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Radiology - Year 2018, Vol 8, Issue 1
Abstract
Background: high-resolution direct MR imaging of the hip provides the best means for evaluating intra-articular pathology. However, radiography remains important for the diagnosis of subtle bony irregularities associated with femoroacetabular impingement. Hence the aim of the present study was to estimate the role of MRI in early evaluation of painful hip joints with subtle plain radiographic findings Materials and Methods: A total of 70 patients are included in the study. Total of 5 different pathologies are included in the study. Such as Avascular necrosis, tuberculosis of hip joint, joint effusion, metastasis of hip joint and osteoarthritis. All the patients were subjected to palin radiographic and MRI diagnosis. Results: In our study of 70 cases, 26 cases are diagnosed as AVN, 18 cases showing Joint effusion, 14 cases showing Osteoarthritis, 10 cases as TB Hip, and 2 cases showing Metastatic disease to Hip joint. Discussion and Conclusion: Our study proves MRI as gold standard in evaluation of soft tissue and articular cartilage which are having limitations for the detection of pathology on plain radiography.

Differential diagnosis of breast lesions by ultrasonography and its correlation with mammography
Background: Breast disease in women encompasses a spectrum of both benign and malignant disorders. High resolutions sonography is an adjunct used in detecting lesions in dense breast and supplementary assessment of breas...
Comparison of diffusion weighted magnetic resonance imaging and T2 weighted imaging in focal liver lesions
Background: Focal liver disease is a common diagnostic problem referred to radiologists for evaluation owing to its nonspecific clinical presentation and marked inter-observer variation on clinical examination. Diffusion...
Significance of magnetic transfer contrast in MR imaging of central nervous systems
Background: Magnetic Transfer Contrastis a useful diagnostic tool in characterization of a variety of central nervous system (CNS) infections. The role of MTC has been studied in the detection and diagnosis of meningitis...

Differentiation of non-neoplastic and neoplastic scrotal masses by characterization on B-mode scan and colour doppler sonography
Background: Color Doppler US alone has a limited role in the evaluation of testicular tumours. Gray-scale ultrasonography in combination with color Doppler imaging is a well-accepted technique for assessing scrotal lesio...
