Evaluation of seasonal variations in physicochemical parameters of Taleghan River, northern Iran
Journal Title: Aquaculture, Aquarium, Conservation & Legislation - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2012, Vol 5, Issue 5
Abstract
In this study an experiment on water quality of Taleghan River between August 2008 and July 2010 was conducted. Twenty four samples from 6 stations along the river were taken monthly. Parameters like temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, electrical conductivity, BOD5, COD, nitrate, nitrite, ammonium and orthophosphate rates were considered in order to determine the water quality. Results show that there is no serious problem regarding the parameters checked in this study. So, the water can be used as drinking water for Tehran city without any serious problem.

Considerations upon energetic efficiency of a recirculating aquatic system (RAS) for super intensive fish culture
The efficiency of the aquaculture using recirculating systems depends on many factors among which the most important it is the energy consumption of the system. To assure a high level energy conservation in an aquatic re...
Gametogenic cycle in Villorita cyprinoides and the influence of salinity
Villorita cyprinoides is gonochoristic and showed no signs of sex reversal and hermaphroditism. During the inactive stages of reproductive cycle the gonad is hardly visible through the visceral mass, but at advanced lev...
Dynamics of the level and ratio of nitrogen and phosphorus in carp ponds water: the effect of mineral fertilizers upon its quality
The purpose of this investigation is to establish the dynamics of nitrogen and phosphorus level variation and of their ratio after mineral fertilizers application in water. After mineral fertilizers application into the...
Effect of astaxanthin and cholesterol on growth, survival, and pigmentation of adult spiny lobster, Panulirus ornatus (Decapoda, Palinuridae).
Prior research on the spiny lobster Panulirus ornatus (Fabricius, 1798) determined that intermediate levels of cholesterol are important in diets, but astaxanthin may not be. Here we examined how the growth, survival and...
