EVALUATION OF SENSOMOTOR EFFICIENCY AT PERSONS OF INVOLUTIONAL AGE SYSTEMATICALLY PRACTISING STRENGTH EXERCISES

Journal Title: Medycyna Sportowa - Year 2006, Vol 22, Issue 6

Abstract

Background. Since long ago, the measures that could counteract the results of involution have been searched for on many levels, including methods lying within the field of physical culture. In the opinion of the authors of this publication, such possibilities are embedded (practically for everyone) in resistory training. The aim of the work was the evaluation of influence of systematically applied strength training with the use of medium and light weights, both on chosen morphological as well as biochemical blood parameters and on physical efficiency of people in the age range between 40-60 years undertaking systematic body building training.Material and methods. In the investigations 70 persons participated (32 women and 38 men) in the age 50-62 years and 64 person (20 women and 44 men) in the age 40-50 years. To perform the investigation, the following aids were used: the program of strength training worked out by the authors of this paper, test of general physical efficiency, morphological assessment along with measurements of fat tissue, characterograph of muscular strengths – a device used for defining the maximal strength possibilities of limbs, results of biochemical blood investigations, interview with participants of the investigation.Results. The evaluation of the test for the general physical efficiency showed the evident improvement of parameters determining motor ability of the investigated subjects. At the same time, a substantial reduction of the fat tissue was noted together with slight decrease in their body weight. Decrease in total cholesterol concentration, LDL cholesterol, triacyloglicerols, resting systolic and diastolic blood pressure testify about the positive influence of the applied training strategy also on the health condition of the research participants. The interview carried out after completing the training cycle confirmed increased ability to rule over own body in equivalent-coordinative dimension.Conclusions. The conducted experiment proved that the offered resistory training, performed regularly, influences positively the level of sensomotor efficiency at people in the age 40-60 years. Relatively small decrease of the body weight together with reduction of the fat tissue showed that the systematic resistory training prevents from muscle atrophy. Moreover, such a training, beside improving the results of the analyzed blood parameters, influences favorably the health condition of the people in the investigated age.
