Evaluation of the Spread Range of 3D Parameters for Coated Surfaces
Journal Title: Tribology in Industry - Year 2011, Vol 33, Issue 2
Abstract
3D measurement on surface roughness could be used to assess the surface quality but the procedure is time-consuming and the better the equipment and its performances, the smaller the investigated surfaces. There were investigated the spread ranges for several 3D roughness parameters in order to use the information for establishing a less-time consuming, but acceptable set of measurements. The results pointed out there are some parameters with larger spread range (Sa, Sq, St)and others with narrower spread range (Ssk, Sku).

Effect of Lubricating Oil on Tribological behaviour in Pin on Disc Test Rig
A test method has been developed to evaluate the friction and wear behaviour of cylinder liner and piston ring materials for four stroke engine system. Realistic engine oils are used to describe the behaviour of this tes...
Analyzing the Surface Roughness Effects on Piston Skirt EHL in Initial Engine Start-Up Using Different Viscosity Grade Oils
The absence of fully developed fluid film lubrication between Piston and Liner surfaces is responsible for high friction and wear at initial engine start‐up. In this paper flow factor method is used in two dimensional Re...
Mechanical and Corrosion Behaviour of Zn-27Al Based Composites Reinforced with Groundnut Shell Ash and Silicon Carbide
The mechanical and corrosion behaviour of Zn-27Al alloy based composites reinforced with groundnut shell ash and silicon carbide was investigated. Experimental test composite samples were prepared by melting Zn-27Al allo...
Wear and Corrosion Resistance of CrN-based Coatings Deposited by R.F Magnetron Sputtering
A comparative study was conducted to evaluate the performances against wear and corrosion of CrN, CrMoN, CrZrN, CrVN single layer thin films. The latest are synthesized onto steel substrates (DIN 90CrMoV8), using R.F rea...
Wear Behaviour of Al-Si-Fe Alloy/Coconut Shell Ash Particulate Composites
Wear behaviour of aluminium alloy (Al-Si-Fe) reinforced with coconut shell ash particles (CSAp) fabricated by stir casting process was investigated. The wear and frictional properties of the metal matrix composites was s...
