On the basis of the questionnaire the usage of the ethyl polymetacrylan mouthguard during epileptic seizures and its impact on injuries in the oral cavity area was reviewed and assessed. Results. A mouthguard of Impak material made at a split ratio of powder to liquid of 1,25:1 and traditionally polymerized got the best opinions. Its basic flaws include high rigidity and hardness. Conclusions. Individual intraoral mouthguards should be recommended and prepared for patients with epilepsy in order to protect their oral cavities against injuries. The case at hand points to the need of further tests on patients with epilepsy concerning the proportion of powder to liquid in the Impak material in order to render it more flexible and softer.
