Evaluation of Work Attitude and Job Performance among NonTeaching Staff Of A Nigerian Universit

Abstract

The study seeks to ascertain the work attitude and job performance of Junior Non-Academic Staff (JNAS) of Ebonyi State University Abakaliki, Nigeria. A total of 284 or 30% of the university staff were sampled out of a population of 976 staff as at the time of the study. Descriptive statistical tools were used to measure the variables. The study revealed that JNAS of Ebonyi State University has a high positive attitude to work especially with regards to team work and that has resulted into high job performance. Therefore, impressive work attitude, effective communication and regular attendance to work by staff have been of great benefit to the institution both in terms of job performance and high productivity. It is therefore recommended that universities and other tertiary institutions should take the issue of staff work attitude seriously to facilitate effective job performance.
