EXAMINATION OF THE OPINIONS OF PRESCHOOL TEACHERS REGARDING GAME ACTIVITIES

Abstract

This study was conducted in order to examine the opinions of preschool teachers regarding game activities. While the population of the study consisted of preschool teachers rendering service in the city center of Malatya in the school year of 2015-2016, the sample consisted of 25 preschool teachers who were selected from the population by using the random sampling method. Being among the qualitative research methods, the interview technique was used. A semi-structured interview form that was developed by the researcher was used as the data collection tool. The data were analyzed by using the methods of descriptive analysis and content analysis. As a result of the study, it was observed that majority of teachers used the methods of expression, show, case study and role play during the game activities, preferred stable, useful and functional materials that would not damage children; on the other hand, the children had a difficulty in sustaining their active participation due to the durations of attention and the problems encountered during the games were mostly caused by children.
