Examining the Digitization Status of Faculty Members in Universities in Emergency Remote Education

Abstract
After the Covid-19 epidemic emerged in China and spread to the whole world and turned into a pandemic, an emergency distance education process has started in many countries. As in many education levels, universities have tried to continue their education with emergency distance education. In this study, the digitalization status of the lecturers in the Covid-19 period was examined. In the study, descriptive survey model was used. The digitalization status of 201 lecturers working at a state university in Eastern Anatolia between 2020-2021 were examined in the context of emergency distance education during the Covid-19 pandemic period. The information received was analyzed according to some demographic characteristics of the instructors. In addition, as a result of the study, it was determined that the general digitalization levels of the lecturers were above the average. There was a difference in the level of digitalization of the instructors according to age, unit of work, title, graduation degree. According to the answers to the questions asked about the emergency distance education process, it has been observed and reported that there are differences in the digitalization levels of the instructors. It was an interesting finding obtained in the study that the digitalization levels of the lecturers who had a positive attitude towards the emergency distance education process were significantly higher
