Examining the Social and Academic Perceptions of Graduate International Students.

Abstract
This paper examines the experiences of graduate internation-al students as they construct meaning out of their lived expe-riences and interactions in the United States. Their experienc-es reflect the understanding of their social and academic per-ceptions of their home nations and what in turn end up being their social reality. Fifteen graduates students were inter-viewed with data collected among the international students association in a rural south east research university. Data collected was coded and thematic analysis to analyze the data collected. Results revealed that graduate International stu-dents go through both social and academic pressures which shape their perception of their reality. Outcome also reveals that many of the graduates students face challenges which sometimes require institutional help and support.
