Examples of material solutions in bimetallic layered castings
Journal Title: Archiwum Odlewnictwa - Year 2011, Vol 11, Issue 3
Abstract
In paper is presented technology of bimetallic layered castings based on founding method of layer coating directly in cast process so-called method of mould cavity preparation. Prepared castings consist two fundamental parts i.e. bearing part and working part (layer). The bearing part of bimetallic layered casting is typical foundry material i.e. pearlitic grey cast iron, whereas working part (layer) is depending on accepted variant plates of alloy steels sort X6Cr13, X12Cr13, X10CrNi18-8 and X2CrNiMoN22-5-3. The ratio of thickness between bearing and working part is 8:1. The verification of the bimetallic layered castings was evaluated on the basis of ultrasonic NDT (non-destructive testing), structure and macro- and microhardness researches.

Thin Wall Austempered Ductile Iron (TWADI)
In this paper the analysis of thin walled castings made of ductile iron is considered. It is shown that thin wall austempered ductile iron can be obtained by means of short-term heat treatment of thin wall castings witho...
Structure homogeneity as a parameter for evaluation of composite casting quality
The structure of composite materials is be usually described as a compound of two structural components called matrix and reinforcement, respectively. A classic, commonly known example is polyester resin reinforced with...
Tribological properties of AC44200 based composites strenghead with AlB2BOB3 Bparticles
The paper presents a research on abrasion resistance of aluminium-based composites consisting of EN AC-44200 matrix reinforced with AlB2BOB3B particles. The examinations revealed that wear intensity of the composites dec...
Heat resistance of Fe-Al intermetallics in the context of selected heat-resistant and hihg-temperature creep resistant steels
Results are hereby presented of heat-resistance tests of two Fe3Al and FeAl intermetallic phase-based alloys in the context of St41k-type boiler steel and 50H21G9N4 high-temperature creep resistant steel. It has been asc...
The influence of remelting parameters of the electric arc and conventional tempering on the tribological resistance of high speed steel HS 6-5-2
The present thesis depicts the results of the research of tribological high speed steel HS 6-5-2 remelted with the electric arc. Steel was remelted with different parameters. The amperage of electric arc was changed, the...
