EXPEDIENT METHODS OF SUSTAINING WEAPON SYSTEM AVAILABILITY

Abstract
The paper presents an expedient repair system in the context of sustaining weapon system availability under combat operations. Firstly, the crucial processes of battlefield maintenance were defined and principles and nature of expedient (temporary, improvi-sed) repairs were described. Additionally, basic allied documents related to battlefield maintenance and expedient repair were mentioned. Furthermore, expedient repair sys-tems in selected allied armies were briefly described in order to identify the basic ele-ments of the expedient repair system, which are common for all allies. The identified elements were shortly characterized.
