Experimental Analysis on Effect of Design Parameters on the Performance of Single Loop Pulsating Heat Pipe

Journal Title: International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR) - Year 2015, Vol 4, Issue 4

Abstract

The increasing the demand of electronics cooling in the field of science, the novel technologies available with us to reduce such type of load on the devices. The pulsating heat pipe (PHP) is one of the advance technologies in electronic cooling application compared to conventional heat pipe. In this experimentation, the performance of single loop pulsating heat pipe was fabricated and tested. The tube of copper material having internal diameter is 2 mm and outer diameter is 3 mm. The PHP was performed on different filling ratio 60% to 80% in steps of 10% and heat input was supplied from 8 W to 16 W in steps of 2 W. The working fluid was used as Acetone and Heptane. The main aim of this experiment is analysis on effect of working fluid and filling ratio on design parameters of single loop pulsating heat pipe and to find out the suitable working fluid for best filling ratio for different heat inputs. The thermal resistance and heat transfer coefficient was evaluated at different filling ratio. The acetone gives the best performance at 60% filling ratio at given heat input as compared to heptane.
