Experimental Investigation on Effect of Particle Sizes of Molybdenum Disulphide on Wear Under Heavy Load and Slow Speed Conditions
Journal Title: International Journal of Modern Engineering Research (IJMER) - Year 2014, Vol 4, Issue 12
Abstract
In the present work, experimental investigation has been carried out to identify the effectiveness of employing three different particle sizes of MoS2 (Nano-particles: 40 nm size, Technical superfine grade: 1.75 μm size and Technical grade: 53 μm size) in varying quantities (0.5, 1.0 and 1.5% by weight) on the wear of the sliding surfaces. The experiments were conducted on a conformal block and disk test setup. The running-in distance required to achieve steady state wear was determined experimentally. The wear of the block is measured as its weight loss after the test. The results of the experiments are reported

Experimental Approach of CNC Drilling Operation for Mild Steel Using Taguchi Design
Drilling is the most common (multi-point) cutting technique targeted for the production of small-diameter holes. Hole making is among the most important operations in manufacturing, and drilling is a major and common hol...
An Improvement to Sensor Protocol for Information via Negotiation (SPIN) Protocol
Wireless sensor network is collection of one or more homogeneous or heterogeneous sensor nodes which sense some events and inform sink for that by sending that data towards it to perform some action. Data trans...
Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of Sintered Hot Upset Forged Square Cross Section Bars of Chromium-Molybdenum Low Alloy Steels
Present investigation pertains to evaluate the tensile properties of sintered hot forged and oil quenched and also homogenized, but furnace cooled specimens which were machined from square cross section bars of app...
Characterization, Classification and Standardization of Fly Ash of Kosovo Lignite-Fired Power Stations as Industrial Construction Product
Kosovo generates around 6000 GWh of electrical energy annually. Over 97% of this is produced by lignite-fired power-plants and less than 3% by hydro-plants. The lignite combustion, around 8 Mt/a, besides the emission of...
Role of IT in Lean Manufacturing: A brief Scenario
A concept of Lean can be seen as a loosely connected set of potentially competing principles whose goal is cost reduction by the elimination of waste, and organise the possible effort to utilise waste of all kinds...
