Facile Preparation of a Nanostructured Silver Oxide from a Mixed Ligand Coordination Polymer: Characterization and Biological Activity
Journal Title: Advances in Research - Year 2017, Vol 10, Issue 5
Abstract
In this research, the synthesis of a silver coordination polymer derived from1,2-bis (4-pyridyl)-ethane (BPA) and benzimidazole (BIMZ) is reported. It was synthesized, characterized and used as a precursor for silver oxide nanoparticles by calcination. The as-obtained complex products was characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, UV-visible spectra fluorescence technique, thermal analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). X-ray powder diffraction analysis (XRD) showed that the size of the silver oxide nanoparticles obtained is 29 nm. The oxide exhibits strong antimicrobial actions on some Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.

Quantification of Activity Concentrations and Radiation Hazard Indices in the Solid Minerals Exploration Fields of Benue State, Nigeria with Multivariate Statistical Approach
The quantification of activity concentrations of radionuclides and the radiation hazard indices in the exploration fields of Benue State have been carried out. Samples of the environmental matrix (soil and minerals) were...
Effect of Brown Manuring on Soil Properties, Weed Density, Grain Yield and Economics of Different Crops
Brown manuring in conjunction with pre-emergence herbicide(s) significantly improves the soil physico-chemical properties viz., organic matter, soil aggregation, available nitrogen, concentration of available nutrients i...
Radiation Pattern of a Circularly Polarized Microstrip Short Backfire Antenna
A circularly polarized microstrip short backfire antenna (CPMSBA) with one ring corrugated rim, using aperture coupled feed method is proposed in this paper. The antenna is designed to operate in KU-band. The simulation...
Effect of Cow Dung Slurry and Termite Mount as Seed Treatment on Germination and Seedling Characteristics of Red Sanders (Pterocarpus santalinus L.f)
Pterocarpus santalinus L.f. is a highly valued timber species, because of its “heavy, dark -red heartwood,” especially that possessing a ‘wavy’ grain. Propagated through mainly seeds; problem in seed germination because...
Biochemical Characterization of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. malvacearum Isolated from Infected Cotton Plant and It’s in vitro Sensitivity against Some Selected Chemicals
Aim: The aim of our study is to isolate, identify and pathogenicity test of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. malvacearum (Xam) causing bacterial blight of cotton and to determine the comparative efficacy of some selected chemi...
