Factors of successful United Nations peacekeeping missions

Abstract
Seven factors contributing to the successful implementation of the mandate of the UN peacekeeping mission (the willingness of the conflict parties to cooperate; guarantee of a certain level of security; orientation on the elimination the conflict causes; political support; timeliness of intervention; long-term strategy; competent management and staff) were identified and analyzed. The perspectives of peaecekeeping mission for conflict resolution in Eastern Ukraine are considered. Applying identified seven criteria for the success of UN peacekeeping operations (readiness of parties to the conflict to cooperate, guaranteeing a certain level of security, focus on removing the causes of conflict, political support, timely intervention, the availability of long-term strategy, competent management and staff), then the last two to answer difficult and all the rest - are not met, giving rise to pessimistic assessment of prospects for the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbass.
