Abstract
Introduction: families are not always prepared to promote health promotion actions. Method: during the months January–March 2019, in this institution conducted an exploratory study where opinions on the subject were identified in 50 of these doctors. Theoretical references that support the family-health promotion relationship were systematized. Results: 80% of the respondents acknowledged that the family's participation in health promotion activities is insufficient and 70% appreciated that their preparation for this purpose is not satisfactory. They also recognized weaknesses in the professional performance of the general practitioner to ensure optimal family-health promotion activities. Conclusions: the relationship between the family and health promotion is based and the need for the preparation of this as a transcendental aspect for the educational work of the population in health matters is highlighted.
