Abstract

This study was carried out in the enterprises that apply and do not apply agricultural insurance in Kırklareli and Edirne provinces. It was aimed to obtain descriptive information and to determine the tendency to agricultural insurance. Besides, the problems encountered during the insurance policy implementations and the expectations of the farmers were determined. The research was carried through with the participation of a total of 317 farmers, 80 of whom hold and 92 of whom do not hold insurance policies in Edirne and 68 of whom hold and 77 of whom do not hold insurance policies in Kırklareli. Means, percentages and cross-tables were used for data analysis. Logit regression analysis was used in order to determine the effective factors on agricultural insurance. In the research area, it was determined that education levels, experience in farming, annual total income, annual total agricultural income, total land size, membership to farmers' associations had an effect on agricultural insurance positively and nonagricultural activity had an effect on agricultural insurance negatively.
