Journal Title: Здоров`я дитини - Year 2013, Vol 7, Issue 50
Abstract
The article deals with the features of clinical course and modern approaches to the diagnosis of eye diseases in children caused by persistent intracellular infections. The study involved 90 children with inflammatory diseases of the eye in age from 3 days to 18 years. All patients were examined for the presence of causative agent by PCR in various biological fluids and the level of immunoglobulin in the blood serum. It is found that the leading form of herpetic eye disease in children are anterior and posterior uveitis, their clinical course is characterized by obliteration of clinical symptoms at the early stages of the disease, which leads to a generalization of the process and the development of severe complications. The authors made a conclusion about the need for examination of children with inflammatory diseases of the eye by PCR, which allows a clear differentiation between active replicative and chronic latent stage of infection.
