FEATURES OF COPING IN PATIENTS WITH COSMETIC PROBLEMS AND DISHARMONIOUS SELF-ESTEEM
Journal Title: Psychiatry, Neurology and Medical Psychology - Year 2017, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
The majority of dermatologists and specialists in mental health note the great influence of psychological factors in the development and progress of the skin pathology. Cosmetic problems have hidden danger to the psychological and mental state of patients because of the subjective traumatic factor – the effect on self-perception directly connected with dissatisfaction with their own appearance. In such cases, the actions of doctors in different specializations are aimed at improving physical health and increasing resistance to mental stress. In the present research features of coping in cosmetological patients with disharmonious selfesteem are studied. It is found that a low resistance to stress in these patients is caused by not effective coping strategies. Therefore, psychological correction of coping relates to important areas of psychological help in cosmetological patients.
