Features of Nutritional Therapy in Patients with Hypertension

Abstract
Despite the development of preventive and therapeutic measures, standards for management of patients, hypertension remains one of the most common chronic diseases of a human. According to official statistics of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine on 1 January 2011, 32.2 % of the adult population suffer from hypertension. According to the World Health Organization, prevention, aimed at changing the lifestyle, is a universal «vaccine» against hypertension, and the use of non-drug measures can reduce its new cases by 50 %. The article describes the main dietary recommendations for patients with hypertension, their validity in view of the pathogenetic aspects of the formation of hypertension and the development of atherosclerotic changes in order to improve the quality of medical treatment, prevention of cardiovascular complications.
