FEM Modeling and Weight Reduction of a Solar Energy Driven Racing Car Chassis
Journal Title: Acta Technica Jaurinensis - Year 2015, Vol 8, Issue 4
Abstract
The paper demonstrates the strength analysis of a solar energy driven racing car chassis with two different mechanical modeling, beam-bar and shell modeling. Weight reduction is also a key point in the stages of car design. Reducing the weight of the car results in higher fuel efficiency and usually better dynamical properties. The weight reduction was performed with three different materials, steel, aluminium-alloy and laminated fibre reinforced composites. The paper shows the complete mechanical modeling process from construction of the mechanical model to the analysis of the laminated composite chassis structure and the results of the weight reduction.

State Feedback Controller Design of an Active Suspension System for Vehicles Using Pole Placement Technique
The paper presents a method for designing a state feedback controller of an active suspension system of a quarter car model. This is a survey based on a specific example. The designed controller of the active suspension...
The Effect of Filler Orientation and Distribution on the Electrical and Mechanical Properties of Graphene Based Polymer Nanocomposites
The aim of my proposed study is to develop an alternative production technique of graphene via in-situ exfoliation of graphite in the hosting polymer matrix. The production process is carried out by an alternative top-do...
FEM Modelling Possibilities of Glued Insulated Rail Joints for CWR Tracks
In this paper the authors detail the possibilities of modelling of finite element method (FEM) of glued insulated rail joints which are applied in railway tracks with continuously welded rails (CWR). A lot of laboratory...
Stress Analysis and Weight Reduction of a One-Cylinder Engine Crankshaft
The article deals with the weight reduction and the achievement of a more homogeneous stress distribution of a one-cylinder engine’s crankshaft, developed for the Formula Student series. In order to achieve this goal, a...
The Initiation of Safety-Enhancing Actions in Railway Crossings Using Modelling Procedures
Thisstudy is examining the application opportunities of models, and it is revealinga possible solution which can be the basis of creating a catalogue which canestablish the reconstruction of railway crossings. This reco...
