ФЕНОМЕН ОГРАНИЧЕННОЙ РАДИКАЛИЗАЦИИ В СРЕДЕ ТРУДОВЫХ МИГРАНТОВ ИЗ УЗБЕКИСТАНА В РОССИИ

Abstract
According to official data of recent years, 2,500 citizens from Central Asian countries have joined the radical group "Islamic State". However, such data are hardly verifiable. As a matter of fact, instead, the process of recruitment and radicalization chiefly takes places among Central Asian immigrants in Russia. The youth, unskilled workers abroad, criminals and ethnic minorities are potential recruits. The security services of the post-Soviet states of Central Asia reportedly warned that extremists took the control of many bazaars and collect protection money from dealers, especially in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan (where they are gradually replacing traditional criminals) and corrupt local authorities. In this sense, a recent research I participated as an interviewer was aimed at understanding potential causes of radicalization among labor migrants from Central Asia in Russia. Such a study has enabled the researchers to identify the notion of "limited radicalization".
