FGMs generated method SHSM
Journal Title: Archiwum Odlewnictwa - Year 2009, Vol 9, Issue 2
Abstract
In this study, a new SHSF (Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis in Mould) process of synthesis of the functionally gradient materials (FGMs) was described. The said method enabled generating a thin, sub-surface layer of the MMC type in two alloys, i.e. in cast iron/NbC and Ni3Al/NbC systems. The layer was composed of fine-dispersed niobium carbides present in high volume content. The cast iron/NbC and Ni3Al/NbC materials fabricated by the SHSF process were next subjected to metallographic and structural examinations, combined with testing of mechanical properties.

Laboratory grey cast iron continuous casting line with electromagnetic forced convection support
The article describes the construction of a 20 mm diameter grey cast iron ingots continuous casting laboratory line. This line is made of three main units: melting unit (induction furnace), casting unit and the pulling u...
The influence of the conditions of gypsum plaster preparation on its technological properties
The results of researches on influence of basic preparation parameters, i.e. time and mixing intensity, start and end time of set, dimensional changes and strength of gypsum plaster, are presented in this paper. Determi...
Residual stress state in titanium alloy remelted using GTAW method
Test materials comprised two-phase titanium alloy Ti6Al4V (Grade5). The surface of the tested alloy was remelted by means of TIG welding method using variable current-voltage parameters. The investigations aimed to deter...
Usage of ATND method to determination of mechanical properties of AlMg10 alloy with complex additive of SbNiCr
Aluminum alloys with magnesium are commonly used in foundry industry due to lower density and higher corrosion resistance, comparing with silumins. Complicated shapes of produced alloys, differences in wall thickness and...
Influence of the technology of melting and inoculation preliminary alloy AlBe5 on change of concentration of Al and microstructure of the bronze CuAl10Ni5Fe4
Examining was the aim of the work: influence of the permanent temperature 1300°C ± 15°C and changing time of isothermal holding in the range 0÷50 minutes on the melting loss of aluminum in the bronze CuAl10Ni5Fe4; the qu...
