Financial performance of the cooperative social economy company guarantor of social and commercial activity

Abstract

The economic potential of the social economy determines the number of active social economy that is 69 thousand, including 9 thousand cooperatives on 30.06.2007. Until 1989, recorded a decline in the number of cooperative entities with more than 43%. The reduction also occurs in the economic potential of the sector and its share in the GDP, which fell from 9.5% in 1989 to 1.9% in 2008. Currently, the rate of decline has slowed down, if stable, and despite a significant reduction in the volume of economic sector still plays an important function at the interface between economic and social policies in 15 different industries. Operators have a dominant share of the real estate industry such as housing cooperatives (36.2%). Their financial situation is different. Among the co-operative entities in the industry - real estate management, and only 8% in 2005 ended negative financial result. This shows respect for the rights of cooperative housing market and the need to generate profit, while share it in accordance with the objectives of social enterprise and social mission. This affects the reduction of social problems such as unemployment and poverty in Poland. Cooperative in this article is an example of the fact that the success of social enterprises in the market economy can achieve the objectives of economic and social life at the same time protects their members, their families and the environment.
