FINE ARTS ACTIVITIES IN PEOPLE’S HOUSES: SAMPLE OF URFA PEOPLE’S HOUSE

Abstract
People’s Houses which opened on February 19, 1932 first began to get into the act in 14 centres, spread throughout the coun-try in a short time. They made their presence felt actively in the years between 1932-1951 and they served as a public school in fact and made their works via language and literature, fine arts, drama, sport, social aid, community private institutions and courses, library and publishment, peasantry, history and museum departments. Urfa People’s House was opened in 1934. Urfa People's House was one of the important institutions that affected Urfa's social life and became the main culture center of Urfa province.
