Abstract

This study was conducted in order to assess the floristic composition and its ecological characteristics of Darazinda during 2013-2014 in different seasons. The total flora of Darazinda consists of 213 species belonging to 68 families. In which 46 species were monocotyledons and 163 species were Dicotyledons. Equisetum and Adiantum capillusveneris is belongs to Pteridophyte, Agaricus campestris and Morchella esculentawere belongs to Fungi. Poaceae (37Spp), Asteraceae (19Spp), Solanaceae (12 Spp), Brassicaceae (10Spp) and Papilionaceae (9 Spp) were the largest families. The family Amaranthaceae has 6 species followed by Boraginaceae, Chenopodiaceae, Cucurbitaceae and Euphorbiaceae with 5 species each. Apiaceae, Lamiaceae, Myrtaceae, Mimosaceae and Polygonaceae with 4 species each while Cyperaceae, Asclepiadaceae, Malvaceae, Moraceae, Rhamnaceae, Scrophulariaceae, Verbenaceae and Zygophyllaceae have 3 species each. Eleven families have 2 species and 30 families have 1 spp. According to habitat plants in wet were 41(19.2%), cultivated plants 21 (9.8%), dry and wet 24 (11.2%) and dry 127 (59.6%). Life form spectrum showed that therophytes (105 Spp., 49.2%), hemicryptophytes (26 spp., 12.2%), geophytes (23 Spp., 10.7%), chamaephytes (19 Spp., 8.9%), nanophanerophytes (14 Spp., 6.5%) and microphanerophytes (24 spp., 11.2%). Cuscuta reflexa and Cistinche tubelosa were the parasitic plants. Leaf size spectra showed that there were 74 (34.7% Spp) nanophylls, 45 (21.5% Spp) leptophylls, 44 (20.1% Spp) microphylls, 41 (19.2% Spp) mesophylls and macrophyll 2 (1%) while 7 (3.2% spps) were aphyllus.
