Flow capacity analysis for MPL Katowice Pyrzowice terminals with the indication of zones requiring architectonic changes
Journal Title: Architecture Civil Engineering Environment - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue 0
Abstract
In order to improve the quality of passenger service at an airport terminal it is necessary to continuously monitor the level of the services rendered. Devising a strategy for the process of modernization or extension of an airport, with a view to main- taining or elevating the standards offered, requires a skilled determination of the investment commencement time. The rationale behind such investments is a deliberate prognosis of changes in the numbers of passengers visiting the airport in order to avoid exceeding maximum capacity at peak times. The launch of construction works while maintaining continuity of operations at the airport is connected with a conscious utilization of any available spatial reserves within the existing structures. Analyses of flows of users receiving services in various zones of a building, in consideration of the limit values set for the appropriate standards, are some of the tools that facilitate their proper design. Design that includes the statis- tical trends of changes in the amount of users receiving service requires a responsible and conscious decision making around the shaping of relations between spatial arrangements and auxiliary technologies. The paper presents different methods of working with large quantities of information which the designer must analyze and comprehend. The aim is to make sound investment and design decisions that would precede and prevent the loss of efficiency and performance in rela- tion to the satisfaction of users.

Contribution to the short measurement method for determining the thermal characteristics of existing buildings: total heat transmission coefficient estimation based on double measurement
This article presents the way to determine the total heat transmission coefficient of a building based on double brief mea- surement and its practical application. It makes use of short measurement of heat consumption in...
Validation of the fib 2010 and RILEM B4 models for predicting creep in concrete
Creep strain, a requirement of the concrete design process, is a complex phenomenon that has proven difficult to model. Although laboratory tests may be undertaken to determine the creep, these are generally expensive an...
