Forest pedology in Ukraine

Abstract

The paper highlights the role of G. M. Vysotsky in laying the foundations of forest pedology in Ukraine. The results of work of the employees of URIFFM and its experimental stations, Forest Institute of USSR Academy of Sciences, University of Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv Agricultural University on forest soil sciences are presented. The Greate importance of principles of forest typology and its classification model, edaphic grid, is proved for the study of soils.
