FORMATION OF THE FOREIGN POLICY IDENTITY OF THE STATE: ROLE AND IMPORTANCE OF POWER AND SOCIAL INTERACTIONS
Journal Title: Регіональні студії - Year 2018, Vol 12, Issue
Abstract
Nowadays, the differentiation of society during its interactions with the state is becoming a key cause of the imbalance of power influences, as the latters are under the constant pressure of diverse political and social groups. In this regard, the foreign policy identity of the state is determined to directly depend on the establishment of interactions at the ‘state – society’ level in the context of implementation of certain domestic and foreign policy courses. The power and social relations are proved to depend on the essence of the political process within the state and those cultural and value features of the society that can be extrapolated by the state externally. These features serve as the markers of its identity on the international political arena and can be the attributes of the static nature of such identity when it is considered by the other subjects of international relations. However, currently Ukraine has no specific algorithms for eliminating negative political influences while establishing interactions between the state and society. Consequently, the reduction of negative effects of political pressure on the power and social relations and the social support of the foreign policy course of the state on the international arena are considered important for constructing the foreign policy identity of Ukraine during the transitional period of its development.
