Journal Title: Indian Journal of Research in Pharmacy and Biotechnology - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 6
Abstract
Propranolol hydrochloride is the most recently a non-selective beta-adrenergic blocking agent, has been widely used in the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, phaeochromocytoma, cardiac arrhythmias and other cardiovascular disorders. Propranolol hydrochloride undergoes hepatic first-pass metabolism following oral administration, with systemic bioavailability between 15% and 23% and has half-life of 3 to 5 hours. When administered frequently, dose related side effects like nausea, abdominal pain and constipation. In this work the effect of type of polymers and their increase in concentration on the drug release was studied. Also the effect of different types of diluents used on the drug release from the SR tablets was studied in this research work.
