FORTRESS WROCLAW – UNIQUE HERITAGE OF ARCHITECTURA MILI-TARIS

Abstract
The aim of the article is to present the unique features of Fortress Wroclaw as the monument of Architectura militaris that is different from other German fortresses, such as Grudziądz, Chełmno, and Malbork, found at present in Poland. The authors focus on the technical aspects related to the fortress design and construction at the turn of the 19th and 20th century, and the aspects of the current archive and field research. The article contributes to future considerations on the diversity of the fortification, and the research pertaining to tactical aspects.
