Journal Title: Наукові записки Національного університету "Острозька академія" Серія "Філологія" - Year 2017, Vol 64, Issue 2
Abstract
The article deals with the functional field of gluttonimic metaphors in Ukrainian language and outlines approaches to categorizing it in a frame with non-food / food processing semantics on a material of texts of scientific, folklore, biblical, journalistic nature and own field research. It is emphasized that gluttonimic metaphors in Ukrainian language are motivational subsystem, which is released in the semantic classification of metaphors. Structurally these metaphors can be represented by a single word (the word-metaphor manifests complete identification of objects, whereas during the comparison the subjects are matched only partially), and syntactic structures of different linear lengths: phrases, phraseological and comparative phrases, suggestions, paroemias, complex syntactic whole and even the text. Linguistic analysis of the functional field gluttonimic metaphors, implemented with the involvement of data from cultural science, sociology, psychology, history, led to the conclusion that the use of this type of metaphors through reframing is a strong potential for the nomination of denotations of other subject areas, and reflects the most actual trends in the society of a certain historical period, which is promising for further development of research in the area of frame semantics.
