Abstract
Trough the analysis of documentary sources, we evaluate the work of a known Camagüey scientist: Gaspar Betancourt Cisneros, who in his huge task, dabbled in politics, journalism and teaching, during the revolutionary period of the frst half of the nineteenth century Cuba. In his work we can fnd not only his political activity, but also his contribution to the local education, natural sciences and the agriculture of the province once known as Port of the Prince.
