Genetic correlations of winter wheat yield with selection indices in stressing environment

Journal Title: Plant varieties studying and protection - Year 2014, Vol 0, Issue 3

Abstract

On a trial basis, the formation of selection indices of winter wheat varieties under varoius environmental conditions in years of early and late spring vegetation is studied. Early or late vegetation is a stress factor for a genotype. Indeed, in a breeding process technology it is important to know how these stress factors influence the formation and variability of selection indices. Research results demonstrated that in stressing environment in case of selection for yield potential at an early stage of breeding it is suitable to use such selection indices as harvest index and index of linear ear density that can be used as marker characteristic.
