Genetic diversity of Ukrainian Charolais cattle assessed by selected genetic markers
Journal Title: Journal of Animal Science, Biology and Bioeconomy - Year 2016, Vol 34, Issue 2
Abstract
This article presents the results of a study on 10 microsatellite DNA loci polymorphism in Charolais cattle (n = 101). Seventy-seven allelic variants were identified and the largest number of alleles was observed for TGLA53 locus (12 alleles). All microsatellite DNA markers, except ETH10, showed a high degree of polymorphism. A significantly high B allele frequency (0.269) of kappa-casein gene was detected and a large number of animals (0.508) have the heterozygous AB genotype variant. The frequency of V allele (0.511) of the growth hormone gene was non-significantly higher than that of L allele (0.489). Animals with heterozygous LV genotype prevailed (0.537); frequencies of homozygous LL and VV genotypes were 0.221 and 0.242, respectively.

Evaluation of the microstructure and tenderness of longissimus lumborum muscle of calves
The aim of the study was to compare the microstructure and tenderness of longissimus lumborum muscle of slaughter calves fed milk or milk substitutes. The research material covered 36 slaughter calves aged approximately...
Przeciwbakteryjne i przeciwgrzybicze właściwości miodu – badania wstępne
Narastająca antybiotykooporność drobnoustrojów zmusza do poszukiwania naturalnych źródeł związków wykazujących działanie przeciwdrobnoustrojowe.
A comparison of slaughter value and meat quality in JA 957 and ROSS 308 broiler chickens
The experiment was conducted on two groups of chickens: JA 957 and ROSS 308, 100 heads in each (50 cockerels and 50 cocks). The birds were reared in a typical production building for 7 weeks, which were divided into 4 fe...
The impact of faba bean with high or low content of tannins on the results of rearing and carcass quality of broiler chickens Part I. Performance and slaughter results of chickens
The aim of the study was to compare the effectiveness of the use of mixtures with different content of high- or low-tannin faba bean in chickens for fattening. The study was per-formed on 160 sexed broiler chickens, assi...
