Geometric ornamentation in ukrainian woven works

Abstract
The article deals with historiography of the Ukrainian woven products. The author also addresses to the problem of the symbolism of Ukrainian ornamentation, which contains a large number of motives, symbols, codes, characters. In addition it presents some materials which are turned to other possible functions of ornament in ethnic culture. The variety of woven products and their decorative originality largely dependent on raw materials, technology and techniques of weaving. The article has the comparative analysis of artistic and technological tradition of manufacturing woven products in various regions of Ukraine. The composition of the Ukrainian woven products is marked boundless imagination, flair. According to ethnographic features woven products reveal a lot of regional differences.
