GEOSTATISTICS AS A TOOL SUPPORTING RESEARCH ON MINERAL DEPOSITS OF POLAND – MAIN DIRECTIONS OF APPLICATIONS
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2010, Vol 439, Issue 439
Abstract
The history of development of geostatistical methods in the world and their applications in Poland are shortly presented. Main directions of the use of geostatistics in the evaluation of mineral deposits of Poland are discussed, especially with regard to resource estimation and modelling of spatial distribution of deposit parameters. The necessity of wider implementation of geostatistics for proving mineral deposits, exploitation planning, sampling pattern optimizing and output quality predicting is emphasized.

Hydrogeology study of the western part of the Polish Carpathians
Hydrogeology of the western part of the Polish Carpathians is complicated due to large differences in morphology, climate and geology. Morphology and climate are related to altitudes from ca. 300 m a.s.l. at the n...
Micromorphology of sand quartz grains from the Preglacial Kozienice series as an indicator of transportation and deposition processes in the southern Mazovian Lowland
Surface micromorphology of quartz sand grains (0.8–1.0 mm) of preglacial sediments from the Mazovian Lowland (Poland) was analysed under scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in order to determine characteristic features of...
INFILTRATION CAPACITY OF WEATHERING RESIDUALS IN GNEISES OF WIELKA SOWA MASSIF (MIDDLE SUDETES)
The paper presents the results of the hydrogeological investigations carried out in the Sowie Góry massif in order to estimate infiltration capacity of the weathering cover of gneisses. Based on fields works there were e...
SELECTED ISSUES OF THE GENESIS OF GROUNDWATERS FLOWING INTO LUBIN AND POLKOWICE-SIEROSZOWICE MINES, IN THE AREA OF HYDRAULIC CONNECTIONS BETWEEN ZECHSTEIN AND OLIGOCENE DEPOSITS
The key issue of the work was to define water chemistry variations in the Lubin and Polkowice-Sieroszowice mines, in the area of hydraulic connections between the Triassic-Permian and Cenozoic water-bearing complexes. Su...
