GEOTECHNICAL PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN THE KARST AREAS IN DALMATIA (CROATIA)
Journal Title: UNKNOWN - Year 1993, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
The paper deals with engineering geological characteristics of karst (karstified) terrain, with problems caused by the presence of caverns and small caves with thin vaults, and the possibilities and methods of studying such phenomena. The paper also presents a possible method of solving the interaction between underground caves located immediately below the surface and the construction of roads by applying the finite elements method, with the solution illustrated by an actual example. In addition, the second example presents a solution for the road location and its basic structure above the cave in the slope of the road cut.

MODELS TO ESTIMATE BRAZILIAN INDIRECT TENSILE STRENGTH OF LIMESTONE IN SATURATED STATE
There are a number of methods of estimating physical and mechanical characteristics. Principally, the most widely used is the regression, but recently the more sophisticated methods such as neural networks has frequently...
POSSIBILITIES FOR GROUNDWATER POLLUTION OF THE STIP AQUIFER REGARDING ITS HYDROGEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The paper presents research on filtration characteristics of the alluvial sediments of the Stip aquifer in order to determine the degree of protection from ground water pollution. Previous studies determined that alluvi...
ENHANCED RECOVERY FROM WATER-DRIVE GAS RESERVOIRS
Ultimate recovery from water—drive gas reservoirs is governed primarily by the reservoir heterogeneity, residual gas saturation behind the water front, and by relatively high—pressure free gas abandoned updip of the high...
RUDARSTVO U HRVATSKOJ
MICROFACIES CHARACTERISTICS OF CARBONATE COBBLE FROM CAMPANIAN OF SLOVENJ GRADEC (SLOVENIA): IMPLICATIONS FOR DETERMINING THE FLEURYANA ADRIATICA DE CASTRO, DROBNE AND GUŠIĆ PALEONICHE AND EXTENDING THE BIOSTRATIGRAPHIC RANGE IN THE TETHYAN REALM
A carbonate cobble was collected in a creek near Slovenj Gradec (Slovenia). It comprises Trochactaeon gastropods as well as foraminifera Fleuryana adriatica and Cuneolina ketini from a subtidal environment with agglutina...
