Global Optimized Shapes of Flying Configurations Compared with Those of Gliding Birds
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2014, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
The determination of global optimized (GO) shape of a flying configuration (FC) (namely, the simultaneous optimization of its camber, twist and thickness distributions and also of the similarity parameters of its planform) leads to an enlarged variational problem with free boundaries. An own optimum-optimorum (OO) theory was developed in order to solve this enlarged variational problem. According to this OO theory, a lower limit hypersurface of the drag coefficients of elitary FCs versus the corresponding set of similarity parameters of their planforms is defined. The elitary FCs corresponding to the optimum set of similarity parameters, which is obtained by the numerical determination of the position of the minimum of this hypersurface is, at the same time, the GO FC of the set. The GO shapes of three FCs models were designed by the author according to her OO theory. The transversal cuts of the GO FCs look like those of gliding birds and also their behaviors, by changing of start values of optimization, are similar because nature optimizes too.

Modeling of Target Tracking System for Homing Missiles and Air Defense Systems
One reason of why the guidance and control systems are imperfect is due to the dynamics of both the tracker and the missile, which appears as an error in the alignment with the LOS and delay in the response of the missil...
Vorticity Waves in Shear Flows
The main purpose of this paper is to bring about the vorticity-creation process at the boundary surfaces on one hand and to understand the interaction of concentrated vorticity structures on the shear flow on the other h...
Compensation for errors in determining the angle in the flight-navigation complex of the aircraft in case of failure of the satellite navigation system
Currently, navigation equipment for long-range aircraft, where the flight is characterized by a long duration and the absence of frequent and abrupt maneuvers, continues to be actively improved. Therefore, the main purpo...
New Methodology for Optimal Flight Control using Differential Evolution Algorithms applied on the Cessna Citation X Business Aircraft – Part 2. Validation on Aircraft Research Flight Level D Simulator
In this paper the Cessna Citation X clearance criteria were evaluated for a new Flight Controller. The Flight Control Law were optimized and designed for the Cessna Citation X flight envelope by combining the Deferential...
ALOAD - a code to determine the concentrated forces equivalent with a distributed pressure field for a FEM analysis
The main objective of this paper is to describe a code for calculating an equivalent system of concentrate loads for a FEM analysis. The tables from the Aerodynamic Department contain pressure field for a whole bearing s...
