Global Optimized Shapes of Flying Configurations Compared with Those of Gliding Birds
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2014, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
The determination of global optimized (GO) shape of a flying configuration (FC) (namely, the simultaneous optimization of its camber, twist and thickness distributions and also of the similarity parameters of its planform) leads to an enlarged variational problem with free boundaries. An own optimum-optimorum (OO) theory was developed in order to solve this enlarged variational problem. According to this OO theory, a lower limit hypersurface of the drag coefficients of elitary FCs versus the corresponding set of similarity parameters of their planforms is defined. The elitary FCs corresponding to the optimum set of similarity parameters, which is obtained by the numerical determination of the position of the minimum of this hypersurface is, at the same time, the GO FC of the set. The GO shapes of three FCs models were designed by the author according to her OO theory. The transversal cuts of the GO FCs look like those of gliding birds and also their behaviors, by changing of start values of optimization, are similar because nature optimizes too.

Common aspects and differences in the behaviour of classical configuration versus canard configuration aircraft in the presence of vertical gusts, assuming the hypothesis of an elastic fuselage
The paper analyzes, in parallel, common aspects and differences in the behavior of classical configuration versus canard configuration aircraft in the presence of vertical gusts, assuming the hypothesis of an elastic fus...
Image Compression Using Wavelet Methods
This paper aims to study and compare the compression efficiencies of wavelet-bitmap and wavelet-Huffman. Both methods use wavelet to deduct a portion of the information in the image that can endure losing it without a si...
Theoretical View of Some Current Global Security Challenges
As the new millennium starts to unfold, we see before us an area of security that has been radically reshaped since the end of the cold war and the end bipolar division of the world. Deepening globalization brings not on...
A Hydro-Dynamical Model for Gravity
A hydro-dynamical model for gravity by using an analogy with the attraction of spherical sources in incompressible fluids is proposed. Information regarding a photon-like particle called graviton is taken using an author...
Determining the sensitivity of Data Envelopment Analysis method used in airport benchmarking
In the last decade there were some important changes in the airport industry, caused by the liberalization of the air transportation market. Until recently airports were considered infrastructure elements, and they were...
