GLOBALISATION AND CULTURES IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBALISATION

Abstract
Globalisation is a process used to conceptualise the last phase that we are experiencing. There is no consensus on it yet. It is a multifaceted concept having different meanings based on the scene and perspective. It emerged as a follow-up of modernisation and became an inevitable process owing to a variety of elements. Culture is the way of living, thinking, believing and behaving peculiar to a nation. Globalisation of culture means cultural change and culture’s gaining a different content. Globalisation made the world smaller and made it possible for different cultures to interact with each other. Globalisation is depotentiating and annihilating the immeasurable elements within the frame of its own measurable elements. During this process, cultures is heading towards dedifferentiation through assimilation and imitation on a line from underdeveloped countries to developed nations. Being based on the screening model, the study aims to analyse and investigate the effects of globalisation on different cultures and the problem of cultural continuity, considering the fact that globalisation is not limited to economical, political, technological, ecological aspects, and it involves a cultural aspect as well.
