GLOBALIZATION AS A FACTOR OF SELF-DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS

Abstract

In the article, the authors consider the actual problem of the impact of globalization on Ukrainian students. Special attention is focused on clearly identified trends, according to which a person acting in terms of globalization gains the opportunity for education, employment and residence in any country of the world, in terms of adaptability and competitiveness. The most important task of the current education system is to prepare high-quality professionals capable to favorably "sell themselves" in the labor market, to be adapted to any changing conditions, make decisions and take responsibilities for them. In this connection, there appears the phenomenon of "competitive personality", which is interpreted as "personality, characterized by the aspirations and capacity for high quality and efficiency of his activities, and the capacity for leadership in terms of competition, rivalry and intense fight with the competitors”. Today everyone can both represent his (her) social role in a particular country, and can feel as a "globally minded person", for which a person should possess "planetary mentality". Therefore, today it is possible to get education in any part of the world that is evidenced by active development of academic mobility processes at different levels of education, with a predominance of Masters and postgraduate education. In the same way, a specialist has the possibility of employment and residence in any country of the world upon conditions of adaptability and competitiveness. Therefore, this highlights the ability to be a subject of one’s personal and professional development, independently find solutions of socially and professionally significant problems in terms of rapidly changing reality. In its turn, this highlights the task of encouraging each person to self-improvement and personal responsibility for the results. In addition, the article suggests the criteria for students’ inclusion to the globalization process.
