Abstract
The errors of the past have led to the Corporate Governance today having greater importance in its study and in the adoption and application of good practices; so much so that the main objective of this document is to identify the bad governance practices that financial institutions carry out, with the aim of not repeating the mistakes of the past. For this reason, as a lesson from the bankruptcy of financial institutions, it is convenient to identify deficiencies and strengthen ties between the company's governance bodies and practices. The Principles of Corporate Governance for Banks, published in July 2015 by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), will be reviewed; and, the malpractice of a microfinance company has been taken as a sample, in which the references that led to it being currently in a Liquidation and Dissolution process will be identified, or said in this way, what were the elements of its corporate governance that fueled its bankruptcy.
