Grading of unstable distal radius fractures and its evaluation using JESS fixation
Journal Title: Indian Journal of Orthopaedics Surgery - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 3
Abstract
Introduction: Unstable distal end radius fractures are a common entity with various treatment options. The degree of instability varies with each fracture and it has a bearing on the treatment outcome. We are trying to grade the instability and its use in predicting treatment outcome. Materials and Method: 48 adult patients with unstable distal radius fractures were classified into three grades according to our instability grading. All were treated with Joshi’s external stabilizing system and their anatomical and functional results were analyzed at one year. Result: 91% had excellent or good functional results and there were statistically significant differences in functional outcome among the three grades. Conclusion: The proposed grading system is simple and will help to predict functional out come and duration of JESS fixation in unstable distal radius fractures.

A study on functional outcome of patients treated with interlock nailing in the forearm fracture bones
Introduction: The imperfect treatment of fractures of radius and ulna diaphyses leads to a loss of motion as well as muscle imbalance and poor hand function. Therefore, the present study was designed to evaluate the func...
Management of intertrochanteric fractures with short proximal femoral nail
Background: Intertrochanteric fracture is one of the most common fractures of the hip especially in the elderly with porotic bones, usually due to low-energy trauma like simple falls. The present study was undertaken to...
Management of fracture of distal radius by external fixator using the principle of ligamentotaxis a prospective study
Background and objectives: Fracture of distal end of radius continues to be one of the most common skeletal injuries since the description by Poteau in 1783 and by Colle’s in 1814. Management of these fractures is still...
Analysis of Functional Outcome of Conservative versus Surgical Management by Plating in Mid-Third Clavicle Fractures
Displaced middle third clavicle fractures have always posed a therapeutic challenge to the orthopaedic surgeons. Incidence of these fractures varies from 2.6–4% in adults. Majority (about 80%) of the clavicle fractures o...
