Green synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using leaves and stems extract of some plants
Journal Title: Advanced Journal of Chemistry-Section A (Theoretical, Engineering and Applied Chemistry) - Year 2019, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using the aqueous extract of Ferula gumosa, Ferula latisecta, Teucrium polium and Trachomitum venetum leaves and stems extract as the reducing and stabilizing agents. This synthesis shows attractive characteristics such as; the use of inexpensive and available plant extracts, non-toxicity, eco-friendly biological materials, and operational simplicity. The extracts incubated with AgNO3 solution showed gradual change in color of the extracts to yellowish brown, with intensity increasing during the period of incubation. The nanoparticles were characterized by UV–visible absorption spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectroscopy, Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). The silver nanoparticles synthesized were generally found to be spherical in shape with variable size ranging from 5 to 30 nm, as evident by TEM. The biosynthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) showed good antibacterial activity against clinical strains of two bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.

Adsorption of Cd(II) and Pb(II) Using Physically Pretreated Camel Bone Biochar
In this study low cost biochar adsorbent originated from camel bone was prepared by physically treatment, and examine the developed camel bone biochar for the removal of Cd2+ and Pb2+ from their solutions. The biochar ad...
Pesticide in Soil and Rice Crop from North of Iran: Concentration and Risk Assessment
Rice is a major diet and staple food in Iran. The most common organophosphorus pesticide used in rice paddies of this area is diazinon. The objective of this research is to determine the concentration of diazinon in soil...
Synthesis of Acrylonitrile Based High Internal Phase Emulsion Monoliths and their Application in Recovery of Heavy Metal Ions
Polymeric monoliths based on acrylonitrile-divinyl benzene were synthesized successfully by high internal phase emulsion (HIPE) polymerization. Highly porous polyHIPEs were prepared by variation in oil to water ratio as...
Prediction of two-dimensional gas chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry retention times of 160 pesticides and 25 environmental organic pollutants in grape by multivariate chemometrics methods
A quantitative structure–retention relation (QSRR) study was conducted on the retention times of 160 pesticides and 25 environmental organic pollutants in wine and grape. The genetic algorithm was used as descriptor sele...
Caro's Acid-Silica Gel Catalyzed Regioselective Ring Opening of Epoxides with Indoles and Imidazoles under Solvent-Free Conditions
An efficient and facile procedure has been developed for the ring opening of epoxides with nitrogen heterocycles such as indole and imidazole in the presence of Caro's acid-silica gel (CA-SiO2) as catalyst in solventless...
